AUGUSTA — On the anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, released the following statement:
“From the moment the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, our nation was forever changed. More than two decades since the deadly terrorist attacks, we repeat the promise made as the fires burned and rescue efforts were still underway—a promise to never forget. To never forget is to remember the lives that were lost and the heartbroken families that were left behind. To never forget is to acknowledge the unimaginable trauma of those who survived and to honor the extraordinary first responders who showed up in our nation’s darkest hour. Today, on this solemn anniversary, we reaffirm our promise, our commitment to never forget. Let’s hold those we lost, their families, survivors and first responders in our hearts today.”
