AUGUSTA – Today, Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, testified in favor of Mapleton’s David Adams reappointment to the Board of Pesticides Control at a hearing before the Legislature’s Committee on Agriculture, Conservation, and Forestry. The Committee unanimously endorsed his nomination to serve a second, 4-year term on the Board as a member with commercial application expertise.

The nomination will now go before the full Senate for a vote.

“Mr. Adams has a career’s worth of experience in commercial application and in dealing with the Board of Pesticides Control itself,” said President Jackson. “His knowledge as a business owner in Northern Maine and on-the-ground experience with the ways in which pesticide control impacts the agricultural community have served the Board well. I know he will continue to bring an important perspective to the issues that come before the Board throughout his second term.”

Mr. Adams has been the owner and president of DASCO Inc. in Presque Isle for over 20 years with a background in agriculture and pesticide application. He lives in Mapleton.

The Senate will vote to confirm his nomination in the coming weeks. An affirmative vote from two-thirds of the members present is required to overturn a committee’s recommendation.
