AUGUSTA – Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, released the following statement reflecting upon the life, legacy and passing of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:
“Tonight, we are a nation mourning the loss of an extraordinary figure, who was committed to serving this country until the very end.
“Throughout her lifetime, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg faced no shortage of challenges. Even when the odds were against her, she rose to each challenge with unmatched grace and strength. She broke through every barrier in her way, leaving the world a little better off for the next generation following in her footsteps. And she did all of this while building unlikely friendships across ideologies along the way.
“Her passing marks the end of an incredible life that did a whole lot of good for the people of this country. We owe it to her memory to carry on this legacy with our own commitment to fairness, equality and justice.”
