President Jackson tours Maine School of Science and Mathematics

Limestone – On Thursday, Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash, visited with students, educators and administrators at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) in Limestone.

“The Maine School of Science and Mathematics is a truly special place for both its students and the community of Limestone. Students that excel in the fields of science, math, engineering and technology can access an unparalleled education while making the most of all that rural Maine has to offer,” said President Jackson. “As a state, we must continue to ensure that the school has the resources, leadership and representation to thrive as it launches the next generation of leaders, workers and entrepreneurs.”

As a part of the tour, President Jackson visited the makerspace, which provides students with the tools and materials to engage in both class-related and personal projects in the fields of technology and computer science. He also visited the chemistry lab.

MSSM is temporarily requiring students, teachers and visitors to be masked following a recent rise in COVID-19 cases among students.
