With Independence Day this weekend, I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the founding of this country than to make the Buy American, Build Maine Act law. I’m hopeful the governor will sign it.
Buy American, Build Maine earns Senate approval
Maine small businesses and the hardworking people who keep them running don’t just drive our economy, they really are a part of our communities. Small business owners sponsor our little league teams, help out with band fundraisers and donate to our community food banks. They are our family members, neighbors and friends. Buy American, Build Maine is about lifting up these workers, businesses and quality-manufactured products in our own backyard. Throughout this pandemic, Maine workers, businesses and manufacturers have stepped up to serve and support our communities in the toughest of circumstances. We owe it to them to have their backs.
Buy American, Build Maine clears committee
Buy American Build Maine is a win for the entire state. It puts taxpayer dollars back into the community, keeps our economy humming, and grows our Made-in-Maine brand. It does all of this by supporting the workers and businesses here in this state.

I’m grateful that President Biden continues to make good on his commitment to American workers. It’s time for Maine to do the same, which is why I have once again introduced ‘Buy American, Build Maine’ legislation. We owe it to the 1.3 million people living and working in this state to ensure taxpayer dollars go towards supporting and rebuilding our local economy.
